Saving Money Tips - neat and practical ideas to make your money go further everytime you spend or invest.

SAVINGS ON LEISURE

We all like that special treat, and to enjoy ourselves, often in the company and family or friends.

With the kids

Children can be costly to ply with toys and games which they can outgrow or get bored with quickly. Kids need VARIETY and NEW INTERESTS to stimulate and absorb them and help form likes and dislikes for the future, here are a few low cost tips;

  • source games and puzzles from thrift and charity shops at low cost
  • trade kids fun stuff with other parents, perhaps a once a month get together to chat and swap things your own kids have outgrown or got bored with.
  • your time is a big asset and just doing, even simple things with mum and dad is great in the eyes of a child.
  • involve your kids pals, brother and sisters, grandparents and neighbours too - get together to just have fun and relax and communicate.

Staying at home

Sure staying in can be boring, but there are loads of things you can do at home and more people are using their haven to educate and improve themselves without costing a lot;

  • use the local library for books, music and films to enjoy or learn about things
  • use TV sparingly otherwise you loose track of what else is around.
  • consider a small business - even selling surplus goods or making goods you can sell on auction sites like EBay, it can be an interesting and absorbing hobby and PAY ITS WAY even make a useful profit.
  • cook yourself and avoid costly and potentially unhealthy take-outs - you can feed yourself well on a neat budget with a little thought.

Out on the town

Many cannot afford to "go out" as costs can be prohibitively expensive, so can you have a good time at home or around the town on a budget?

For starters what burns the money? look at some key areas and we are half way to seeing some areas we can cut down.

  • smoking cigarettes - besides being bad for your health the habit is serious costly - kick the habit see Smokefree.govFree, trusted, and proven methods for those trying to quit smoking. Self-help guides, instant support, and interactive tools available.
  • out every night - cut down on the frequency saves a bundle for sure.
  • paying your way - if out with friends paying your share is wise but make sure you time your "round" and avoid treating "hangers on" who never contribute their dues.
  • avoid expensive places - it's nice to show off and have an extra good time, but the door prices of some places could fund your fun for a month elsewhere.
  • watch gambling - slots, casinos and dangerously, expensive habits which can get out of control.
  • know when to go home - leaving it too long gets you over tired and you are vulnerable to spending extra towards the end of a decent night out.
  • keep your money and cards safe - pickpockets are around, and you can easily loose all you have.
  • be wary of strangers - many have ulterior motives, better to meet new people via existing contacts, than pick up strangers or allow yourself to be picked up.
  • if walking home go with a friend and stick to well lit areas www.nightsafe
