SAVING MONEY WITH VOUCHERS

Vouchers come in several guises and are in truth money in another form, although only too often they get disguarded. Not all vouchers have a direct value to you, but are worth checking whenever you come across them.

Vouchers normally are PROMOTIONS for products and services designed to draw your attention to it, try it and hopefully become a regular customer. The promoters are using the voucher as a lure or bait.

Vouchers vary in their value from a few pence or cents, to a % discount off, usually at least 10%, or the need to collect towards a larger discount or specific free product.

You normally get vouchers free or with a product or service you have bought. Or passed on from others who find the voucher is useless to them for various reasons.

You can get discount vouchers from a variety of sources;

• on products bought at supermarkets often to publicise a new product, they can take the form of 10% - 50% off or buy 1 get 1 free.
• buy an expensive product and get specific value vouchers for use on products, vacations or hotels, or a special discount.
• in newspapers and magazines, some as part of advertisements, others (better) sponsored and promoted by the media itself.
• on leaflets and brochures handed out to promote goods and services.
• on application to some firms who are promoting goods and service " send for details and get..."
• printable from web sites.
• from supermarket check outs often for petrol or specific products to encourage repeat purchases.
• Tesco uk run a schools program where they give customers vouchers which schools can collect towards various products often computers. Collect this for your own children's school or give them to other parents.

Some vouchers are more useful than others. 20% off a supermarket product you buy regularly is a real saving but for a product you hate is useless.

Trade vouchers - if you get a voucher for something you do not use or like then maybe a friend or relative will find it useful, pass it on to them. Make sure you make others aware you are collecting certain vouchers.

Some vouchers require you to SAVE several for a benefit, say a weekend hotel break, free or at a really low price. Popular with newspapers to help sell copies the saving may run over several days or weeks and require you to collect x vouchers over y days to allow you to miss an odd day.

Vouchers can be bought at face value to give as a present, which gives the receiver freedom to choose a product for themselves, or add money to the voucher to make a more expensive product. Vouchers are usually company specific, usually offered by large stores and supermarkets. Web based purchases with voucher may be restricted and can only be used in the land based stores.

Many very large companies operate voucher programs where you can buy vouchers at a special discount which can be spent at a VARIETY OF STORES, this is useful if considering a major purchase say electrical goods or furniture. Check with your firm on availability.
