Business Support Net - helping new business start, survive and
prosper. Every day thousands of new businesses start trading in a variety of trades and professions. for many, who have the knowledge, experience, ability and dedication this means a life time of steady income and profits and an asset value of the business they can later pass on or sell off. For others, years of hard slog trying to make ends meet, working 80+ hours a week for very little return. The dream of a financially rewarding new life shattered, eventually you have no option but to quit and return to the humdrum world of regular paid work. Not every new venture can make it big, or even be successfully small, as there are dozens of potential risks, pitfalls and hardships facing the budding entrepreneur. Age, race or sex is no barrier for success or indeed failure. The ex chairman of a PLC can fail miserably trying to run a local shop, whereas a drop out university graduate can make a million selling goods on the internet. More women are succeeding in owner operated business than ever before, and many school children have made fortunes running a business alongside their normal school or college education. A small business may be defined as a business with a small number of employees. The legal definition of "small" often varies by country and industry, but is generally under 100 employees in the United States while under 50 employees in the European Union. These businesses are normally privately owned corporations, partnerships, or sole proprietorships. In the USA for example over 3/4 of all businesses are run by sole proprietors who have no payroll. Running your own business is exciting, challenging and full of opportunities. It requires a variety of skills which you build on daily. Initially you are everything, driver, book-keeper, storekeeper, mechanic, salesman, or cleaner, whatever your business needs you are it. Doing well as a one person affair, and have the chance or desire to expand?, maybe now your trouble really starts. You may need staff and premises rather than being home based. As a business grows, regulations, staffing, taxes and cash flow become more critical if the business is to grow successfully. Many businesses do well small but fail miserably when they attempt ambitious and ill prepared expansion plans. Small Business Support Net is a unique site that sets out to deal with the entire life cycle of typical businesses, traditional as well as web based. Our main focus is on start-ups and small activities owned by one or a few people since these are by far the biggest majority and the most vulnerable from failure, especially in the first few years when trying to get established. The larger a business becomes the greater the chance of it's survival in the long term, although it may frequently change and add to ownership and be taken over or take over other firms to grow its dominance in its market sector.
